CHRISTINA LEE
Violin | Piano
Christina Lee comes from a non-musical family, but hearing the sound of the violin at a family friend’s recital as a young child fascinated her so much that she was determined to learn the instrument. The New York City-born violinist took her first violin lessons at the age of nine under the tutelage of two local teachers, and at age thirteen was admitted to the pre- college division of the Mannes School of Music. She went on to receive her Bachelor’s at Mannes, and moved to Chicago in 2019 to study under
Ann Setzer at DePaul University.
Christina is an active orchestral and chamber violinist in the Chicago area. She is currently a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, where she has played under the batons of Riccardo Muti, Erina Yashima, and Thomas Wilkins. While at DePaul, she attended masterclasses with Pierre Amoyal and Sandy Yamamoto, and has served principal positions in the DePaul Symphony Orchestra. Christina spent her summers performing at music festivals in the Northeast, where her teachers included Carolyn Stuart, Bayla Keyes, and Lawrence Dutton, among others.
When she isn’t playing the violin, she can often be found sipping on a matcha latte, attending repertory screenings at a local independenttheater, or admiring cute dogs in the streets of Lakeview.
